Women in Business Sharing our Strengths

In Blog

Gone are the days where businesses were only run by men. Now, women are not only being heard and running businesses of their own, they are well and truly kicking butt in the business world!

Aside from being generally awesome, are there any particular reasons why us women in business are well and truly kicking butt?

We think there are some specific qualities and characteristics giving us women an ‘edge’ and today we touch on just a few.

1. Empathy

Women are often more capable than men of showing concern for other people’s feelings and connecting on a personal level.

Why is it important in business? Because we need to put ourselves in other people’s shoes (i.e. your clients) to find out what they want, and need, and how we can help.

In business or not:

2. Intuition

They call it “women’s intuition” for a reason. And from my experience, women can often tap into other people’s needs faster and more effectively than men, by picking up subtle clues about how the people around them are feeling.

And why wouldn’t this help you in business?

3. Emotional intelligence

Research shows that women tend to be slightly more emotionally aware than men (this should come as no surprise).

Thus, female business owners and leaders have an innate advantage in their abilities, allowing them to devote more concerted effort to other tasks while they let their emotions run on autopilot.

4. Nurturing

The need to take care of others was once looked down upon as a weakness in women, but it has surprising strength in the business world, because just like a child, a business needs to be nurtured and cared for.

And whether as customers or employees, people still want to work with someone who understands them as a person and cares about how they feel.

In a world which seems to get more impersonal every day, prospective customers look harder for businesses that nurture and care.

With these qualities and characteristics and more, it’s not hard to see why we’re kicking butt in the business world.
